Battery Fire and Safety – Global Perspective
Lithium-ion batteries are commonly used across various applications ranging from portable electronics to automotive, aerospace and stationary energy storage. They have highly desirable characteristics such as high energy density and capacity. However, this technology could also be a potential safety hazard when subjected to off-nominal conditions that could result in thermal runaway events. Such events are accompanied by fire, smoke, high temperatures, and the release of toxic gaseous and particulate emissions.
The experts on this panel will cover electric vehicle fires and first response strategies, energy storage system fires and safety, emissions from li-ion battery fires and the dispersion of these emission plumes.
